This two-part, 2-hour webinar will include information focused on Land Use Planning Goals 5 and 7, followed by a briefing on research and management measures applicable to resilience and hazard planning.

Please note this is a public, informational webinar, and not a formal Committee meeting.

Section 1 - Land Use Planning: The first hour of this webinar will include a Statewide Land Use Planning Goal 5 & 7 overview. Amanda Puntin of DLCD will provide an informational presentation on Goal 5 (Natural Resources, Scenic and Historic Areas, and Open Spaces), followed by a presentation by Marian Lahav reviewing the content and application of Goal 7 (Areas Subject to Natural Hazards).  An opportunity for Q&A will be available following each presentation.

Section 2 - Hazard & Resilience Research & Management: Following a short break, the second hour of the webinar will include a presentation from Jonathan Allen from the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries on geologic hazards that are likely to impact the Coos Bay region in the coming decades, followed by a presentation from Matthew Brand from Louisiana State University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Matthew will be discussing potential impacts associated with sea-level rise and current research models that help inform planning around these impacts. An opportunity for Q&A will be available following each presentation.
